About the role#
This ten-week internship offers hands-on experience across the capital markets desks at Freddie Mac. You will learn the mortgage capital markets life cycle and receive training to build desk-specific knowledge. Interns are placed in either Front-End teams, focusing on loan pricing and debt funding, or Credit Risk teams, which manage securitized products like STACR and ACIS. You will work alongside experienced professionals to analyze the mortgage market and support the company mission.
What you'll do#
- Support portfolio manager activities by analyzing data and addressing desk needs.
- Complete a summer-long project and present your findings to senior management.
- Network across various desks to gain diverse perspectives on the mortgage market.
- Build your analytical and interpersonal communication skills.
- Develop proficiencies in fixed income valuation, financial transaction analysis, and quantitative tools.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Statistics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
- Graduation date scheduled for Fall 2027 or Spring 2028.
- Availability to start the internship in May or June 2027.
- Strong problem-solving ability and exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with preference for experience in SQL, SAS, Python, or R.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a trading floor environment.

- Compensation: This is a paid, full-time internship at a rate of $32 per hour.
