About the role#
Chatham University is seeking a Graduate Student Assistant to support undergraduate science courses. This role involves assisting in biology and chemistry laboratory sessions, as well as providing grading support for faculty members. This is a paid, part-time, on-site position.
What you'll do#
- Facilitate hands-on experiments and explain scientific concepts to undergraduate students.
- Perform lab setup, troubleshoot equipment, and guide students through experimental procedures.
- Ensure all laboratory safety protocols are strictly followed.
- Demonstrate proper techniques and explain chemical principles during chemistry labs.
- Evaluate student assignments, exams, and projects by applying grading rubrics consistently.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Communicate regularly with faculty members regarding grading concerns and student performance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a graduate student at Chatham University.
- Academic background in Biology, Chemistry, or Mathematics.
- Ability to work closely with faculty and support undergraduate learning.
- Commitment to maintaining safety standards and accurate documentation.
Location & details#
- Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Work Hours: Students may not work more than 20 hours per week combined across all campus jobs during the academic year and may not exceed 980 hours per calendar year.
- Term: Rolling; student positions do not automatically roll over to the next academic year or summer.
