    About the role#

    The Inter-American Development Bank is hiring a graduate student for a paid internship in Washington D.C. This position runs for two months, from January 16 to March 15, 2027. You will work on-site at our headquarters on a full-time basis, totaling 40 hours per week. This program is designed for students from member countries to gain professional experience in development work and corporate management.

    What you'll do#

    • Support the credit team by conducting credit assessments of treasury issuers, including financial analysis and peer benchmarking.
    • Research issuers, jurisdictions, markets, and regulatory developments to inform credit risk assessments.
    • Prepare clear credit reports, memoranda, and presentation materials.
    • Source, validate, and analyze financial and economic data.
    • Build, automate, and maintain analytical tools and dashboards using Excel, Power BI, and Power Apps.
    • Complete additional tasks related to treasury credit risk analysis as assigned.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment as an active graduate student in Economics, Finance, Engineering, or Business at an accredited university.
    • Completion of at least 50% of your graduate coursework at the time of application.
    • Fluency in English and a working knowledge of Spanish, French, or Portuguese.
    • Strong analytical and research skills with advanced knowledge of financial statement analysis.
    • Understanding of credit rating methodologies and rating agency reports.
    • Proficiency in data visualization software, MS Office, SQL, and programming languages like VBA or Python.
    • Citizenship of an IDB member country.

    • Location: Washington D.C., United States.
    • Term: Winter 2027 (January 16 to March 15).
    • Modality: On-site, full-time (40 hours per week).
    • Note: This is a paid internship. Candidates must be first-time participants in an IDB Group internship program and have no family members currently working at the IDB or IDB Invest.
