About the role#
Cedars-Sinai is offering a Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) internship beginning in Winter 2027. This is an 8-week program designed to prepare nurses for critical care practice. You will work in a 24-bed surgical unit that manages trauma, transplant, and surgical patients. Participants must commit to working on the unit for 18 months following the completion of the internship.
What you'll do#
- Provide specialized nursing care to patients with life-threatening conditions.
- Perform careful assessments of critical conditions.
- Plan and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Operate life support systems.
- Collaborate with the critical care team and advocate for patient needs.
- Administer medications and therapeutic agents.
- Monitor signs and symptoms of illness, treatment reactions, and physical condition.
- Initiate emergency procedures when necessary.
What you'll need#
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a BSN or higher degree.
- Current California State RN License.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support certification, with an expiration date at least 60 days past the hire date.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent acute RN experience.
- Ability to meet clinical criteria for the assigned nurse level.
