About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to develop fundamental research skills through exposure to basic, translational, and clinical research. Participants work under the supervision of postdoctoral scientists, research associates, or principal investigators. The program lasts up to twelve months and introduces interns to institutional review board processes, human subjects research, and innovative scientific techniques.
What you'll do#
- Receive instruction and training across various research disciplines.
- Conduct literature searches and perform basic patient screening tasks.
- Support research data collection and entry.
- Maintain accurate project records of experiments and results.
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Observe and comply with all safety standards and procedures.
- Assist with basic scholarly writing and other laboratory support functions as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate student with senior-year standing in a STEM degree program, or a bachelor's degree in a STEM field completed within the last 12 months.
- A basic understanding of general research objectives.
- Preferred: A bachelor's degree in Life or Physical Sciences, or a related field, including at least two years of laboratory coursework.
- Ability to work up to 40 hours per week.
- No licenses or certifications are required.
- Eligible majors include Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Nursing, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Kinesiology.
