About the role#
Cedars-Sinai offers an 8-week Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Internship beginning in January 2027. This program is designed for nurses who want to specialize in critical care. You will work in a 12-bed Cardiac ICU that treats patients with life-threatening heart and blood vessel conditions or those recovering from invasive cardiac procedures. The program includes the Essentials of Critical Care Orientation (ECCO) from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. Please note that participants must commit to working on the unit for 18 months following the completion of the internship.
What you'll do#
- Provide and document direct and indirect patient care services to ensure safety, comfort, and hygiene.
- Plan and implement individualized care plans based on your observations of patient conditions.
- Perform clinical tasks including skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy, and the initiation of peripheral venous access.
- Educate patients on disease prevention and restorative measures.
- Administer medications and therapeutic agents as part of the treatment plan.
- Monitor signs and symptoms of illness and reactions to treatments.
- Identify patient safety concerns and intervene to maintain a safe environment.
What you'll need#
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a BSN or higher degree.
- Current California State RN License.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support certification with an expiration date at least 60 days from the hire date.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent acute RN experience.
- Ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and healthcare colleagues.
