About the role#
The Mineral Land Department manages the acquisition, disposition, and maintenance of subsurface assets. As a student in this department, you will work with negotiators who manage subsurface rights for specific geographic exploration areas. This is a full-time, paid position based in our Calgary head office.
What you'll do#
- Learn the core functions of a Mineral Land department, including negotiations, acquisitions, divestitures, and contract administration.
- Gain insight into how Exploration Teams function, including geology, geophysics, and engineering.
- Assist negotiators in creating business strategies for acquiring and disposing of assets.
- Observe the competitive subsurface Landsale process, including posting strategies and historical analysis.
- Conduct business analysis of Canadian Natural and competitor subsurface ownership to manage mineral expiries.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a business degree or related post-secondary program.
- A focus in Finance, Accounting, or General Business and Management is preferred.
- Experience with mapping or land systems is helpful but not required.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.
Location & details#
- Location: Calgary, Alberta.
- Term: 4 months, starting May 2027.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day.
- This role is on-site at our head office.
