About the role#
Cadence is looking for a graduate student to join our team as a Software Engineering intern. You will work on applying artificial intelligence and machine learning to complex engineering data, including geometry, meshes, and graphs. This role focuses on research and development to automate design workflows and improve simulation processes.
What you'll do#
- Apply AI and machine learning techniques, such as generative AI and graph neural networks, to engineering data.
- Research and develop new approaches for geometry modeling, mesh generation, and topology optimization.
- Build and test prototypes that automate geometry creation and simulation model preparation.
- Collaborate with engineers to integrate AI technologies into physics-based applications.
- Analyze results to improve the performance and quality of AI-generated models.
- Document your research and contribute to technical discussions and software development.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
- A strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles.
- Practical programming experience in C/C++ and Python.
- Familiarity with software development practices like debugging, testing, and version control.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Interest in areas such as deep learning, computational geometry, computer-aided engineering, or GPU acceleration is a plus.

- Location: Austin, Texas.
- This is an on-site, full-time, paid internship.
- The role follows a rolling term schedule.
