About the role#
As a Cyber Analyst Intern supporting the NASA Consolidated Applications Platforms Services contract, you will perform information security risk assessments using the NIST Risk Management Framework. You will evaluate the effectiveness of internal security controls, participate in the software development lifecycle as a risk advisor, and support FISMA audit requirements. You will also serve as a security technical liaison for project and functional teams.
What you'll do#
- Maintain the Application Security Plan and manage risk assessment completion.
- Create Plans of Action and Milestones and manage application vulnerability mitigation strategies.
- Conduct continuous monitoring of applications, databases, and systems, including file integrity and log management.
- Perform firewall rule analysis and manage asset inventories.
- Execute vulnerability and application scanning analysis and track mitigations.
- Provide monthly reporting and metrics.
- Perform incident and vulnerability response duties.
- Coordinate with the Security Operations Center and the Marshall Incident Response Team.
- Manage application contingency plans and perform compliance monitoring.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of NIST RMF and NIST SP 800-53 IA Controls.
- Experience performing risk assessments and identifying mitigating controls.
- Familiarity with vulnerability assessment tools such as Nessus, HP WebInspect, HP Fortify, and Burpsuite.
- A broad technology background including distributed systems, enterprise applications, and application development architecture.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to influence technical and non-technical audiences.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
- Desired skills include firewall ruleset analysis, web application scanning, static code analysis, SAP access management, and security in agile environments.
- CompTIA Security+ certification is a plus.
