About the role#
We are looking for a summer cybersecurity intern to join our Information Security team. This is a hands-on role where you will work directly with our Cybersecurity Analyst and InfoSec Engineer. You will contribute to our daily security operations and help us prepare for an upcoming audit. This is a real job with meaningful responsibilities rather than busywork.
What you'll do#
- Review security alerts daily, document the findings, and record the actions taken.
- Assist in setting up, fine-tuning, and improving security tool configurations, including Zscaler, CrowdStrike, ThreatLocker, Darktrace, and AlienVault.
- Maintain and update security event logs to ensure accurate records of incidents and resolutions.
- Pull and organize sample logs to support audit requirements.
- Track reports from outside security partners to ensure they are filed correctly and on time.
- Upload reports and updates into our compliance tracking software.
- Complete one independent summer project from start to finish, such as creating an incident response guide or a security dashboard.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, information systems, or a similar field.
- Knowledge of at least two of the following areas: networking, operating systems, user account and password management, incident response, or security monitoring.
- Comfort reading logs and working with data in spreadsheets.
- Familiarity with basic scripting concepts.
- Strong writing skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
- High level of organization and attention to detail.
- A proactive approach and the willingness to ask questions.
- Ability to work in the United States without needing visa sponsorship.
