About the role#
This internship is a full-time, on-site position based in El Segundo, California. It runs during the summer of 2027, with specific dates determined by your university schedule. You will join the aerodynamics department to assist with analysis for flight vehicles across all flight regimes. This work supports the extension of vehicle payload capabilities and flight test programs for commercial and hypersonic testbed customers.
What you'll do#
- Run Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to analyze vehicle performance.
- Support wind tunnel testing campaigns and handle data post-processing.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to assess aerodynamic loads and thermal environments.
- Contribute to vehicle design improvements using simulation and test data.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program in Aerospace Engineering.
- Coursework in Compressible Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, and Numerical Methods.
- Proficiency in Python or MATLAB.
- Experience running CFD tools and using Linux-based systems.
- Preference is given to those pursuing or holding a Master’s degree in Aerodynamics or Numerical Methods.
- Experience with DSMC, Tecplot, Pointwise, or past project and club involvement in aerodynamics or fluid mechanics is a plus.
