About the role#
Reporting to an Actuarial Manager, this internship provides exposure to Pricing, Corporate, or Business Intelligence and Analytics disciplines within the insurance industry. You will work alongside Actuarial Associates and senior management to support key financial and analytical initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Run applications for data extraction and analyze the results.
- Contribute to monthly reserve reviews and analyze claims diagnostics.
- Assist with developing actuarial indications and underlying assumptions.
- Build and maintain profitability, growth, and segmentation models to predict customer cost and behavior.
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses to support the needs of various business units.
- Assist with month-end financial reporting, rate filings, and competitive analysis.
- Support capital management initiatives such as Financial Condition Testing and ORSA.
- Develop tools and reports to support data-driven decision-making across the company.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a post-secondary program focused on Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field.
- Familiarity with programming languages or tools such as Excel, VBA, Python, SAS, or SQL.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities while delivering quality work.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Adaptable, proactive, and autonomous work style.
- Proficiency in both English and French, as the role requires regular communication with teams and partners across Canada.
