About the role#
As a Mechanical Design Intern, you will support our engineering team in the Advanced Technologies group. You will work on components for high-temperature gas reactors and light water reactors designed for space and terrestrial use. This role involves collaborating with engineers, data scientists, technicians, and project managers to contribute to system design and development.
What you'll do#
- Assist with basic component and system design, including the preparation of models and drawings.
- Run preliminary calculations and draft supporting documentation.
- Support mechanical component design by incorporating assembly, testing, and inspection considerations.
- Help gather and document procurement requirements for mechanical components.
- Apply fundamental design control and configuration management concepts under the guidance of experienced engineers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Familiarity with 3D modeling software, such as SolidWorks, through coursework or projects.
- A basic understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T concepts.
- Ability to follow task plans and communicate effectively in a technical environment.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.

- Compensation: $25.05 to $31.83 per hour.
- Status: Full-time and paid internship.
