About the role#
As an Aeromechanical Engineering Intern, you will support the development of small unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems for military and commercial use. You will join an Integrated Product Team, working alongside experienced engineers to design, prototype, and test mechanical systems for aerial platforms. This is a paid, full-time, 12-week summer program.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design and development of airframe structures and aeromechanical components.
- Create and modify 3D CAD models and assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Support basic mechanical analysis, including kinematics, thermodynamics, and stress, with guidance from senior engineers.
- Participate in prototype fabrication, 3D printing, and lab testing.
- Help create and revise engineering drawings, bills of materials, and documentation.
- Contribute to technical presentations and informal design reviews.
- Learn about engineering trade-offs, material selection, and system integration.
- Support design improvements and troubleshooting efforts on current programs.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Exposure to CAD tools such as SolidWorks for 3D modeling.
- Foundational understanding of mechanical principles like statics, dynamics, and thermodynamics.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Interest in air vehicles, robotics, or electromechanical systems.
- Willingness to learn and contribute to team efforts.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.
