About the role#
Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern to join the Navigation Intelligence and Connectivity Division in San Diego. This is a full-time, on-site internship for the summer of 2027. You will work within a team focused on mission-enabling solutions for global security.
What you'll do#
- Perform design, modeling, simulation, and testing tasks.
- Conduct verification and validation of systems.
- Engage in research and complex problem solving.
- Create technical drawings and project documentation.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field, with plans to return to school in Fall 2027.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.0 or higher.
- Experience with CAD and FEA tools such as Solidworks, CATIA v5, NX, Flotherm, Ansys, or NASTRAN/PATRAN.
- Knowledge of HFSS, NEC, or FEKO.
- Experience with emerging technologies, project life-cycles, and working independently on complex tasks.
- Ability to lead small groups and deliver presentations.
