About the role#
As a Software Development Engineer Co-op, you will join a development team within the Boston Scientific Electrophysiology group. You will work in an Agile environment alongside cross-functional partners to develop software for the Opal Mapping System. This role provides hands-on experience and mentorship while you contribute to engineering work at a medical device company.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and unit test software applications using C++ in a Linux environment.
- Participate in Agile scrum teams to coordinate new features and resolve technical issues.
- Collaborate with software development and testing teams across all phases of the development lifecycle.
- Contribute to user interface, algorithm development, and back-end data handling components.
- Apply problem-solving skills to deliver reliable software solutions.
- Engage in continuous learning through mentorship and hands-on experience.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Expected graduation date in fall/winter 2027 or spring 2030.
- Proficiency in C, C++, or Rust.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
- Knowledge of systems-level programming, Linux, and QT.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to learn complex software and adapt to new technologies.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Location: 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
- Commitment: Full-time co-op from May 17th or May 24th through December 17, 2027.
- Modality: Hybrid, requiring presence in the office at least four days per week.
- Transportation: Reliable transportation to the office is required.
- Status: This is a paid, full-time position.
