About the role#
Our R&D engineers design and develop implant products for the Active Implantable Systems group. These technologies monitor, diagnose, and treat heart conditions like irregular rhythms, heart failure, and sudden cardiac arrest. You will work on devices that support a patient's entire continuum of care.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to build tools and software solutions for implantable cardiac devices.
- Contribute to embedded firmware design and implementation for Active Implantable Systems technologies.
- Develop and maintain software using C++, C#, and Python to support diagnostics, monitoring, and treatment workflows.
- Identify and solve technical challenges related to device functionality, data flow, and system integration.
- Support innovation efforts that advance these therapies.
- Ensure all engineering solutions meet clinical needs, regulatory standards, and patient safety requirements.
- Participate in Agile development processes.
What you'll need#
- Current rising junior or rising senior working toward a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Ability to start the internship on May 17th or 24th, 2027, for a 12-week term.
- Experience with Python, C++, and C#.
- Experience with embedded firmware through school or work projects.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
- Reliable transportation to and from Arden Hills, MN.
- Medical industry experience, effective communication skills, and a drive to learn new technologies are preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship based in Arden Hills, Minnesota.
- The role follows an on-site work model requiring you to be in the office five days per week.
- This position is considered safety-sensitive and requires a prohibited substance test.
