About the role#
This is a 12-month co-op or new graduate placement starting in January 2027. You will work on product design and manufacturability during concept and commercialization phases. You will also participate in continuous improvement efforts for existing manufacturing processes. This is a full-time paid position.
What you'll do#
- Support the development and optimization of manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Draft 3D prototypes in SolidWorks and build devices to ensure they meet requirements.
- Coordinate research and testing activities.
- Assist engineers with process characterization and the development of validation and test plans.
- Lead LEAN initiatives to improve manufacturing processes.
- Create technical documentation, including drawings and work instructions.
- Train team members on new tools and equipment.
- Design test methods or follow standard protocols to ensure devices meet patient needs.
- Monitor safety practices and ensure compliance with ISO 13485 and FDA standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project timelines.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in or a recent bachelor's degree in mechanical, biomedical, or mechatronics engineering.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma or LEAN methodologies.
- Experience with Minitab.
- Background in a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Interest in biomedical technology.
- A hands-on approach and the ability to work independently or with diverse groups of engineers and clinicians.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
- Work modality: Hybrid, requiring at least three to four days per week in the local office.
