    About the role#

    As a Student Indigenous Relations Coordinator, you will focus on fostering connections and promoting understanding between the company and Indigenous communities. You will support initiatives that build respectful relationships, promote cultural awareness, and advance reconciliation efforts. This is a paid, full-time co-op position starting in September 2026 for a term of 4, 8, or 12 months.

    What you'll do#

    • Act as a liaison between the organization and Indigenous communities by participating in engagement activities and facilitating open communication.
    • Organize and participate in events, workshops, and cultural activities that promote respect for Indigenous traditions and history.
    • Research Indigenous policies and best practices to help develop and implement engagement strategies.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to integrate Indigenous perspectives and knowledge into projects and policies.
    • Support the creation and delivery of educational materials and training sessions to enhance staff awareness regarding Indigenous issues.
    • Build and maintain relationships with Indigenous leaders, organizations, and stakeholders to foster trust and collaboration.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a University, College, or Trade program.
    • Completion of at least one more semester of education following the internship.
    • Experience in data entry and maintaining records or databases.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
    • Previous experience in Indigenous community engagement, advocacy, or event planning is an asset.
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain positive relationships with various stakeholders.

    Location & details#

    • This role is based on-site in Orillia, Ontario, with additional operations in Mississauga, Ontario.
    • Applicants must have residency or a valid work permit to work in Canada.
