About the role#
This is a 6-month co-op position within the Neurology Research Unit, specifically the Neurodevelopmental Biology Research Group. You will work on exploratory research focused on therapeutic strategies to modulate disease-relevant RNA transcripts. The team focuses on early-stage target identification and validation. You will work directly with scientists to design, execute, and analyze experiments that investigate how DNA, RNA, and protein sequences affect disease pathways.
What you'll do#
- Perform molecular assays including qPCR, ddPCR, and gel electrophoretic analysis of PCR products.
- Conduct western blot analysis and routine mammalian cell culture.
- Execute plasmid transfection and viral transduction using human iPSC-derived neurons and established cell lines.
- Perform immunostaining, fluorescence microscopy, and quantitative image analysis.
- Generate and analyze genomic and proteomic data.
- Participate in experimental planning and troubleshoot assays.
- Deliver well-documented datasets, figures, and summaries to support research projects.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Biology, Neuroscience, or a related field.
- Enrollment in an accredited college, university, or skills program.
- Strong background in cell biology with an understanding of genomics and proteomics.
- Technical wet lab experience.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- At least 18 years of age by the start date.

- Compensation: $23.00 - $29.00 per hour, depending on academic level and degree candidacy.
