About the role#
This internship offers the opportunity to contribute to research projects focused on inflammation and autoimmune conditions. You will gain experience in a biotechnology research environment while working on AI and computational approaches to support drug discovery. This is a paid, full-time position for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Apply AI and computational methods to analyze large biological datasets.
- Use machine learning, generative AI, and bioinformatics tools to support target identification and validation.
- Integrate multi-modal datasets to uncover novel disease mechanisms and generate biological hypotheses.
- Partner with biologists and computational scientists to evaluate therapeutic targets for inflammatory bowel disease and other autoimmune conditions.
- Share your project findings and recommendations through a final presentation to scientific leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, MBA, JD, or PhD program in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computational Biology, or a related field.
- Continued full-time enrollment in the Fall semester following the internship.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8.
- Hands-on experience with Python, machine learning, statistical modeling, or large language models.
- Ability to translate research questions into data-driven approaches and work effectively in teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and independently authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Location: Foster City, California.
- Term: 10 to 12 consecutive weeks between May and August.
- Modality: Hybrid (on-site work required).
- Compensation: $20.00 - $55.00 per hour, depending on education and location.
- Benefits: Paid company holidays, sick time, and housing stipends for eligible employees.
