About the role#
This is a 6-month co-op position running from January through June 2027. You will work within the Health Literacy and Plain Language Center of Excellence to make clinical research information easier for patients and caregivers to understand. The role sits at the intersection of health literacy, user experience, visual communication, and process improvement.
What you'll do#
- Evaluate ways to add visual elements to informed consent forms to improve usability.
- Create concepts for patient-friendly graphics, icons, illustrations, and tables.
- Develop and pilot a plain language Schedule of Assessments table template.
- Benchmark visual communication approaches against external resources.
- Build a patient-friendly visual library using storyboards, design briefs, and annotated examples.
- Redesign and organize the Informed Consent Management SharePoint environment.
- Explore opportunities for mailbox automation and improved metrics reporting.
- Present your findings and final deliverables to project stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college, university, or skills program as a Bachelor's or Master's candidate.
- Interest in health literacy, patient engagement, informed consent, or health communications.
- Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
- Organizational and project management abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. and at least 18 years of age by the start date.
- Experience with graphic design tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
- Familiarity with informed consent form authoring or oversight is a plus.
