About the role#
Bennett & Pless is hiring engineering students for our Summer 2027 internship program. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Sarasota or Oakland, Florida. You will work directly with structural engineers and designers on a variety of projects, including commercial, retail, data center, and historical renovations.
What you'll do#
- Design elements within overall structural systems.
- Coordinate with structural engineers and Revit/CAD designers to produce project deliverables.
- Prepare construction drawings using Revit or AutoCAD.
- Perform calculations as directed by the project structural engineer.
- Review shop drawings and submittals.
- Conduct site reviews alongside the project structural engineer.
- Prepare RFI responses under the direction of the project structural engineer.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Pursuit of a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is a plus.
- Required experience with AutoCAD.
- Experience with Revit is a plus.
- Familiarity with industry software such as Microsoft products, Bentley RAM, RISA, EnerCalc, and Adapt.
- Ability to learn and apply building codes specific to project jurisdictions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A self-starter mindset with a willingness to listen, learn, and improve.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines within a team.
