About the role#
Bennett & Pless is hiring engineering students for our summer internship program in Knoxville. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position for the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Design specific elements within structural systems for projects like data centers, manufacturing facilities, commercial buildings, and historical renovations.
- Coordinate with structural engineers and designers to ensure deliverables meet client expectations.
- Prepare construction drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Draft calculations under the direction of a project structural engineer.
- Review shop drawings and submittals.
- Assist with site reviews alongside project engineers.
- Prepare responses for Requests for Information.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. A Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is a plus.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is required. Experience with Revit is a plus.
- Familiarity with industry software such as Microsoft products, RAM, RISA, EnerCalc, and Adapt.
- Ability to learn and apply project-specific building codes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- A self-starter mindset with a willingness to learn and improve.
