About the role#
The Global Employer Services (GES) team at BDO USA helps clients manage their global workforce, including retirement plans, global rewards taxation, and global mobility. As a Summer 2027 intern, you will gain hands-on experience by supporting one or more of these practice areas. You will assist senior professionals with tax research, data analysis, and compliance reporting. This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship based in Chicago.
What you'll do#
- Perform tax technical research to analyze client issues and write detailed reports.
- Review client data and use Excel modeling to prepare calculations for consulting projects.
- Assist with the preparation of US individual tax returns for inbound and outbound international assignees.
- Prepare Forms 5500 for qualified retirement plans.
- Help prepare payroll tax forms such as 941, W-2, and 1099.
- Support informational reporting for equity plans, including Form 3921.
- Communicate with clients to gather data and coordinate project completion.
- Organize file documentation and prepare presentation materials for internal and external use.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program.
- Major in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Prior experience related to workforce programs and issues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team setting.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
