About the role#
BCI is seeking a Technology Specialist Co-op/Intern for the Winter 2027 term, running from January to April. You will join the Technology Department to support BCI users and assist with technology improvement initiatives. This role offers exposure to enterprise IT environments and business technology within a large institutional investment firm.
What you'll do#
- Provide first-level technical support to employees via the Service Desk ticketing system, including in-person visits, phone calls, and remote sessions.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues for workstations, laptops, and mobile devices.
- Manage user accounts, including password resets, permissions, and access requests.
- Assist with file and folder access, network resource access, and printer management.
- Support software packaging, policy management, and patch management.
- Collaborate with the Technology Service Desk team on daily operations.
- Document technical solutions and procedures for the internal knowledge base.
- Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions and shadow experienced specialists to learn tools like Active Directory, Intune, and PowerShell.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or recent completion (within one year) of a university or college program in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-service focus.
- Ability to ask effective questions to identify the root of technical issues.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to research and learn new concepts quickly.
- Professional ability to set clear expectations and communicate timelines to users.
- Capacity to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong written communication skills and experience developing clear documentation.
- A willingness to embrace new challenges in a multi-project environment.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid position located at 750 Pandora Avenue in Victoria, British Columbia.
- Work is performed on-site with the option to work from home one day per week.
- The work term is scheduled for January to April 2027.
