    About the role#

    The Investment Tech and Data & Analytics team at BCI supports a portfolio of vendor and web-based applications used by financial professionals. As a Software Engineer Co-op or Intern, you will work within the Technology department to help plan and deliver complex information systems. You will assist in ensuring that applications remain operational, current, and aligned with business needs while gaining experience with a wide variety of tools and systems.

    What you'll do#

    • Provide analytical and programming support for the development and enhancement of custom, hosted, and packaged applications.
    • Perform day-to-day resolution tasks for complex system problems.
    • Research technical issues and define design specifications in collaboration with business representatives.
    • Present system solutions to clients and translate user requirements into technical specifications.
    • Identify system inadequacies and recommend improvements.
    • Engage with vendors to address operational needs and participate in change control processes.
    • Assist in the progression of system changes through various environments.
    • Document changes to procedures, applications, and data stores.
    • Conduct business analysis sessions and develop support documentation, including technical user guides and operational models.
    • Maintain documentation within Jira and Confluence.
    • Participate in Kanban or Scrum ceremonies to coordinate tasks.
    • Provide training on new procedures and application functionality.
    • Support team members in daily operational tasks and projects.

    What you'll need#

    • University-level knowledge in a field such as Computer Science.
    • Experience with analytical problem-solving and system design.
    • Expertise in programming tools and techniques.
    • Technical writing skills and the ability to communicate clearly in oral and written formats.
    • Familiarity with source control tools like Git.
    • Experience creating workflow diagrams and process flowcharts.
    • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
    • Strong relationship-building, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
    • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and high-quality output.
    • Experience supporting third-party products and hosted solutions is considered an asset.
    • Familiarity with Agile methodologies is an asset.
    • Knowledge of finance and capital markets is desirable.

    Location & details#

    • This role is based in Victoria or Vancouver, British Columbia.
    • Work modality is on-site with the option to work from home one day per week.
    • Available terms: Winter 2027 or Winter and Summer 2027.
    • This is a paid, full-time position.
    • Compensation is $2,330 gross bi-weekly for those with or working toward a graduate degree, and $2,155 gross bi-weekly for those with or working toward an undergraduate degree, diploma, or certificate (plus 6% vacation pay).
    • A fixed-rate travel allowance is provided for those relocating to Victoria for the work term.
