About the role#
BCI is seeking a Compliance co-op student or intern for the Winter 2027 term, with the option to extend through the Summer 2027 term. You will join the Legal Affairs department to support our compliance team in maintaining regulatory standards and risk management. This role offers exposure to a strategic function and the chance to work alongside experienced professionals in the investment management industry.
What you'll do#
- Support various compliance projects under the supervision of team members.
- Perform regular monitoring tasks for investment pooled funds.
- Manage personal trading reconciliations and conflict of interest screening.
- Document current and new compliance monitoring procedures.
- Conduct research and complete ad-hoc tasks as assigned.
- Help improve the compliance program by using existing technology and suggesting enhancements.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or completion of a degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Economics.
- A commitment to hard work and high ethical standards.
- Basic knowledge of business and investment concepts.
- Clear written and oral communication skills.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with AI tools such as Co-Pilot, ChatGPT, or Claude.
- Familiarity with Bloomberg is an asset.
- Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining high attention to detail.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Victoria, British Columbia.
- Work is performed on-site with the option to work from home one day per week.
- This is a paid, full-time position.
- You must be legally authorized to work in Canada for the duration of the term.
