About the role#
This 10-week summer internship provides exposure to both the Compliance and Legal teams at Marshall Wace. You will work directly with the Chief Compliance Officer and the US Head of Legal for North America. The role focuses on risk mitigation and the development of policies that guide firm operations. You will gain insight into trading, investment decision-making, and marketing activities while supporting the team in navigating complex regulatory environments.
What you'll do#
- Analyze regulatory developments through gap assessments and implementation.
- Assess firm-wide processes to recommend controls that improve compliance monitoring and reporting.
- Review legal documents for adherence to firm templates and market standards.
- Collaborate with various teams to address organizational risks and identify improvements.
- Participate in meetings with internal and external parties regarding legal or compliance projects.
- Identify topics for firm-wide education and create training materials.
- Develop strategies to streamline complex processes and distill regulations for implementation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in the first or second year of law school or the first year of business school.
- Excellent academic credentials.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Interest in and knowledge of rules-based subject matter.
- Ability to learn complex information quickly and apply it to problem-solving.
- Detail-oriented approach with a focus on process innovation.
- Prior experience with financial products and markets.
- A collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in New York, New York.
- The program runs for 10 weeks from June 14, 2027, to August 20, 2027.
- Candidates must be able to work from the New York office for the duration of the program.
