About the role#
This position supports electronics testing for the CMS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. You will join the lab team to assist with hands-on tasks required for this international physics project. The schedule is flexible, allowing you to complete work in short blocks between your classes.
What you'll do#
- Unpack, pack, sort, and organize printed circuit boards (PCBs).
- Scan barcodes on computer chips and PCBs.
- Operate specialized equipment, including a laser engraver.
- Depanel, connect, and disconnect PCBs.
- Run automated tests using custom software.
- Maintain lab inventory and assist with equipment maintenance.
- Participate in experiments, analyze data, and prepare research reports.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear mandatory Personal Protective Equipment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Baylor undergraduate student.
- Ability to follow strict technical protocols and safety guidelines.
- Commitment to working up to 10 hours per week.
- Completion of required lab and laser safety training upon hire.
- Reliability in maintaining regular and punctual attendance.
