About the role#
This position supports the New York City English Director of Creative and Professional Writing. You will help research and administer arts programming both on campus and at off-campus locations. The role includes a mentored creative writing project designed to support your professional development.
What you'll do#
- Research and co-administer arts activities and programming.
- Conduct a student creative writing project under the mentorship of the director.
- Research potential sources for publishing creative work in paper or electronic formats.
- Coordinate field trips to literary organizations, plays, and readings in New York City.
- Arrange on-campus conversations with professional writers.
- Coordinate on-campus readings featuring professional writers and students.
- Co-direct the annual spring writing awards program and ceremony.
- Organize the collaborative English and Performing Arts annual Spring Writers Festival.
- Conduct fall and spring student creative writing readings.
- Research and write a creative work throughout the 2026-2027 academic year.
What you'll need#
- You must be Federal Work Study eligible to apply.
- Interest or experience in literary arts creation and administration.
- Experience creating event publicity materials.
- Experience designing and building websites.
- Ability to complete and submit forms and reports.
- Skill in researching ideas and materials for events and creative projects.
- Interest in a career in writing or arts administration.
Location & details#
- This position is located on-site in New York, New York.
- The role is part-time, requiring 5-8 hours per week.
- The schedule is determined in coordination with your supervisor.
- This is a paid position.
