About the role#
The Alumni Relations Student Worker supports the Development and Alumni Relations (DEVAR) team with daily operations, engagement activities, and event planning. This role provides hands-on experience in higher education administration, relationship management, and communications. You will work directly with university staff and interact with alumni and student leaders.
What you'll do#
- Assist with planning and logistics for alumni events, including preparing materials, tracking RSVPs, and managing check-in.
- Support communications by drafting, proofreading, and formatting newsletters, invitations, and emails.
- Maintain event calendars and track deadlines.
- Conduct research on alumni to help prepare briefing materials and profiles.
- Update and organize information within the DEVAR CRM system.
- Provide general administrative support, including data entry, filing, and record keeping.
- Monitor the alumni inbox and respond to routine inquiries.
- Prepare meeting materials and take notes for the Alumni Association and volunteer leadership.
- Support mentoring programs and special engagement projects.
What you'll need#
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong customer service and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Reliability and patience when interacting with visitors.
- Previous office experience is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, NY.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Up to 15 hours per week during the school year, determined in consultation with your supervisor. No more than 20 hours per week when school is in session and up to 35 hours per week during breaks.
