About the role#
The Operations Student Assistant serves as a key member of the Student Activities department at the Bill Daniel Student Center. This role provides essential administrative, operational, and event support to ensure the facility functions as a welcoming hub for the campus community. You will assist with day-to-day business operations, event logistics, and guest services while gaining experience in professional communication and conflict resolution.
What you'll do#
- Deliver excellent customer service to visitors and callers, including answering inquiries and guiding guests to specific locations.
- Support event and hospitality services, including the setup and breakdown of meeting spaces and tabling arrangements for student organizations.
- Provide technical support for audio and visual equipment.
- Maintain files, reports, and internal records while ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Monitor the cleanliness of the building and coordinate with housekeeping staff.
- Assist with special projects, administrative tasks, and business operations to support departmental goals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Baylor University, preferably in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or Psychology.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, take initiative, and work independently.
- Commitment to maintaining regular, punctual attendance and adhering to all University policies.
- Strong communication skills and professional phone etiquette.
- Experience with Ad Astra software is highly valued, though not required.

- Location: Bill Daniel Student Center, Waco, Texas.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Paid at $9 per hour.
- Schedule: Flexible hours available, with specific requirements for tabling setup (7:00 am to 9:00 am) or breakdown (4:00 pm to 6:00 pm) Monday through Friday.
