About the role#
This internship position within the Information Security Services department serves as a Tier 1 SOC Analyst. You will act as a triage specialist, evaluating security events and alerts to determine if they are true or false positives. You will assist Information Security personnel with the analysis, remediation, and monitoring of network intrusions while supporting various business operations projects.
What you'll do#
- Monitor security events received through alerts from SIEM or other security tools.
- Revise alerts escalated by end users.
- Conduct Level 1 triage of incoming issues, including initial risk assessment and determining appropriate routing.
- Perform limited incident response for low complexity security incidents.
- Maintain your assigned ticket queue and participate in the resolution of incidents even after they are escalated.
- Assist with various projects, activities, and tasks related to business operations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a relevant field such as Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Administration, or Data Science.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and take initiative.
- Ability to comply with all university policies and procedures.
- Commitment to maintaining regular and punctual attendance.
