About the role#
The Student Operations Staff (SOS) position supports the daily functions of University Residences in Indianapolis. You will act as a primary point of contact for students, parents, and campus visitors. This role offers experience in a higher education housing environment while you help peers navigate residential life.
What you'll do#
- Provide face-to-face customer service and serve as a resource for residential facility needs.
- Assist students with Wi-Fi access, maintenance issues, and door or lock concerns.
- Coordinate service requests with the appropriate campus teams.
- Manage check-in and check-out procedures for residents and equipment.
- Maintain safety standards and ensure the security of keys, safe access, and hall property.
- Handle emergency situations and prioritize tasks while maintaining a high level of service.
- Protect sensitive information and report policy violations when observed.
- Participate in divisional committees and present ideas to senior leadership.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Purdue University or Purdue Global.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability, flexibility, and a strong attention to detail.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- A customer service mindset.
Location & details#
- Location: Indianapolis, Indiana.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Minimum of 10 hours per week, including days, weekends, evenings, overnights, and holidays.
- Availability: Must return to campus approximately 2 weeks before classes start for training and remain through Senior Week in May.
