About the role#
The Student Operations Coordinator supports University Residences in Indianapolis by supervising student staff and assisting the leadership team. This role provides experience in a higher education housing office. You will work approximately 10 to 15 hours per week. The schedule includes days, weekends, evenings, overnights, and holidays. You must be available to return to campus two weeks before the start of the fall and spring semesters for training and remain through Senior Week in May.
What you'll do#
- Supervise other student staff, including preparing and maintaining work schedules.
- Assist with employee training and provide coaching, counseling, or discipline when needed.
- Maintain safety, risk management standards, and security for keys, hall property, and safe access.
- Handle emergency situations and prioritize responsibilities while assisting residents.
- Maintain operational competency, including resident check-in and check-out procedures.
- Exhibit professional conduct, maintain confidentiality, and report policy violations.
- Serve on committees and present ideas to division senior leadership.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment at Purdue University with at least one semester of college coursework completed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous work experience within University Residences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and reasoning skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Dependability, organization, and attention to detail.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.
