About the role#
This graduate student position supports the daily operations of the Baylor Sciences and Facilities department. You will work with researchers and faculty to ensure laboratory equipment functions correctly and that users are properly trained on safety and technical procedures. This is a paid, part-time role based on-site in Waco, Texas, for the Summer 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Learn to operate, maintain, and calibrate complex scientific instruments including flow cytometers and cell sorters.
- Train researchers on the use of autoclaves, molecular imagers, and analyzers.
- Maintain BSL2 shared cell culture facilities, which includes performing scheduled decontamination.
- Draft and redesign training modules for laboratory researchers.
- Assist with or lead laboratory classes and facility tours.
- Help keep main laboratory spaces clean and organized.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or Environmental Engineering program.
- Previous experience working with complex scientific instruments.
- High level of research instrument knowledge.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Professional communication skills for training, teaching, and corrective situations.

- Schedule: Minimum 10 hours per week with flexible hours.
