About the role#
This position supports middle school and 9th grade students with reading and homework assistance through the Communities in Schools of the Heart of Texas (CIS HOT) program. Tutors serve as representatives of Baylor University while working with community partners to enhance local outreach and student success.
What you'll do#
- Assist students with reading assignments and homework.
- Coordinate with the CIS Volunteer Director regarding the scheduling, implementation, and evaluation of tutoring services.
- Maintain complete and accurate service logs and documentation for each student.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students and CIS staff.
- Attend required meetings, professional trainings, and official functions.
- Ensure all program objectives are met according to contractual requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Baylor University with Federal Work Study eligibility.
- Proficiency in speaking Spanish.
- Strong organizational, time management, and computer skills.
- Ability to work effectively in diverse environments.
- Ability to arrange personal transportation to and from the work site.
- Must successfully complete and clear a Criminal Background Check.
Location & details#
- Location: Waco, Texas (On-site at Communities in Schools of the Heart of Texas).
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Schedule: Flexible hours between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Compensation: $12 per hour.
