Graduate Student Employee Biweekly - Study Skills Center Academic Coach

About the role#

The Study Skills Center (SSC) provides academic assistance to students needing support with executive functioning, study strategies, time management, and test preparation. This position supports the center by staffing the office in the Learning Commons and helping students develop effective academic habits.

What you'll do#

• Provide guidance to students on topics including time management, test preparation, note-taking, reading comprehension, and the creation of study tools.
• Connect students with appropriate on-campus resources, such as tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, and academic mentoring, based on their specific needs.
• Manage student check-ins and check-outs using the Navigate Kiosk platform and document appointment summaries.
• Organize and restock materials within the SSC.
• Develop and deliver presentations and workshops on study-related topics for campus events and faculty requests.

What you'll need#

• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Effective organization skills.
• Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
• Enrollment in a graduate program, with preference for majors in Psychology, Communications, Business Administration, or Health Administration.

Location & details#

• Location: Sid Richardson Building, The Learning Commons (First Floor), Waco, Texas.
• Term: Fall 2026.
• Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Compensation: $15.00 per hour.
