About the role#
This position offers practical experience in a live theater setting for students interested in technical theatre, engineering, construction, or event production. This role is reserved for Federal Work Study (FWS) students only.
What you'll do#
- Assist in setting up lighting, sound, and stage equipment for productions.
- Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of technical gear.
- Help with stage design and construction of sets and props as needed.
- Support during live performances to manage technical aspects.
- Collaborate with technical directors to ensure smooth production.
- Work with screen and LED backdrop technology.
- Organize and clean materials and the theatre space.
What you'll need#
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn carpentry and the use of hand tools, including drills, hammers, and saws.
- Experience painting sets or crafting props.
- Basic knowledge of backstage work.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn how to hang and adjust lights.
- Ability to work in a team, manage time, and maintain physical stamina.
- Reliability and the ability to work independently.
