About the role#
This position supports trait development for local and global programs. You will work on-site in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, during the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, paid position. Please note that students are hired and employed through a third-party contracting agency.
What you'll do#
You will manage field activities from seeding through harvest. Your daily responsibilities include:
- Setting up seeds, preparing land, and seeding.
- Managing plots, pollination, and pest control.
- Harvesting crops.
- Maintaining site standards through spraying, tilling, burning, hand roguing, and mowing.
- Scouting fields for prohibited species to ensure compliance with trial site isolation and post-harvest requirements.
- Supervising casual employees as needed.
- Ensuring all work follows standard operating procedures.
What you'll need#
- A degree or current enrollment in Agriculture or a related field.
- Strong agronomic competence and experience in the agriculture industry.
- An interest in canola development.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to adjust plans when situations change.
- A focus on delivering individual and team results.
- Comfort with extended travel, including driving on highways and grid roads to reach trial sites.
