About the role#
This is a full-time, paid summer internship for the 2027 season. You will work on-site in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, supporting local and global trait development programs. Please note that you will be hired and employed through a third-party contracting agency.
What you'll do#
You will manage field activities from seeding through harvest. Your daily tasks include seed set up, land preparation, seeding, pest control, pollination management, and plot maintenance. You will also supervise casual employees as needed.
Compliance is a major part of this role. You will monitor trial site isolation areas and post-harvest sites for prohibited species by scouting fields. You will maintain these sites to meet organizational and Canadian Food Inspection Agency standards using spraying, tilling, burning, hand roguing, and mowing. You are responsible for ensuring all standard operating procedures are followed.
What you'll need#
- Strong agronomic competence through a degree in Agriculture or a related field.
- Prior experience in the agriculture industry.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to adjust plans when situations change.
- A genuine interest in canola development.
- A track record of delivering results both individually and as part of a team.
- Comfort with extended travel, including driving on both highway and grid roads.
