    About the role#

    We are hiring a Canola Breeding Summer Associate to support our Agricultural Solutions team. You will work on field trials for local and global breeding programs, contributing to variety development and registration from seeding through harvest. This role involves both independent tasks and group collaboration, depending on the needs of the site.

    What you'll do#

    • Manage field activities including seed set up, land preparation, seeding, and pest control.
    • Oversee pollination management, plot maintenance, and parental development.
    • Perform daily monitoring of field and research plots to diagnose crop health.
    • Collect data to support breeding objectives.
    • Supervise casual employees when required.
    • Harvest crops and maintain research plots.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an Agriculture degree or diploma program, or graduation within the last 2 years.
    • Knowledge of breeding and agronomy.
    • Ability to solve problems and adapt plans as field conditions change.
    • Interest in canola development and a focus on meeting individual and team goals.
    • Previous experience in the agriculture industry or with farm machinery is helpful but not required.

    Location & details#

    • Locations: Yorkton and Kamsack, Saskatchewan.
    • Term: Summer 2027 (4 to 8 months).
    • Pay: $25 to $32 per hour.
    • Status: Full-time, on-site, and paid.
    • Note: Students are employed through a third-party contracting agency.
