About the role#
We are looking for a Canola Breeding Summer Associate to join our Agricultural Solutions team. You will contribute to field trials for both local and global breeding programs, aiming to develop hybrids that provide high returns to growers. This role involves working both in a group setting and independently, depending on the specific task.
What you'll do#
- Manage variety development and registration activities from seeding to harvest.
- Handle seed set up, land preparation, seeding, and pest control.
- Oversee pollination management, plot maintenance, parental development, and harvesting.
- Supervise casual employees when required.
- Monitor field and research plots daily to diagnose crop health.
- Collect data to support breeding objectives.
What you'll need#
- A degree or diploma in Agriculture or a related field, either currently in progress or recently obtained within the last two years.
- Knowledge of breeding and agronomy.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the flexibility to adjust plans when situations change.
- A genuine interest in canola development.
- A focus on delivering results for both individual and team goals.
- Previous farm or machinery experience is helpful but not required.

- Location: Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
- Term: Summer 2027 (4 to 6 months).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Compensation: $25 to $32 per hour, with overtime pay for evenings or weekends during peak periods.
- Note: Students will be employed through a third-party contracting agency.
