About the role#
This internship focuses on transportation projects. You will work in a collaborative environment to gain practical experience across various project phases. You will be introduced to company processes and the benefits of an employee-owned firm.
What you'll do#
- Receive on-the-job training for a variety of engineering activities.
- Assist with basic drafting and plan development alongside engineers or technicians.
- Perform routine tasks to build familiarity with engineering methods and programs.
- Learn about survey activities and the operation of GPS and conventional survey equipment.
- Observe construction processes and field tests.
- Work with internal staff such as engineers and surveyors, as well as external clients and contractors.
- Conduct in-office planning and design work.
- Perform field investigations and site visits.
- Compile data and perform basic engineering design calculations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a technical school or a university engineering program, with at least one year of a Bachelor's degree completed.
- Majors in Civil, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering are accepted, with a preference for Civil Engineering.
- 0-6 months of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Experience or exposure to CAD, Civil 3D, or survey software is preferred.
- Strong math skills and the ability to interpret plans and specifications.
- Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to pass safety training and maintain a safety-oriented mentality.
- Willingness to embrace new technologies and processes.

- Travel: Occasional travel (at least 10%) for field work or meetings is required.
- Requirements: Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and maintain an acceptable driving record.
