About the role#
Austin Industrial, Inc. is seeking a student for our Heavy Civil Safety Co-Op Program. You will gain hands-on jobsite experience by working directly with construction professionals on multi-million-dollar heavy civil projects. You will be classified as a Project Intern and help our teams maintain a strong safety culture.
What you'll do#
- Perform daily jobsite walkthroughs to identify and report potential safety hazards.
- Assist with safety inspections, audits, and reviews of active heavy civil construction projects.
- Support incident and accident investigations.
- Participate in weekly project safety meetings and manage meeting documentation.
- Help develop and deliver safety training, orientations, toolbox talks, and safety communications.
- Monitor jobsite compliance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with field personnel, supervisors, and project management.
- Assist with pre-job planning activities to integrate safety into project execution.
- Observe and evaluate the proper use of personal protective equipment and safe work practices.
- Support environmental, industrial hygiene, and occupational health initiatives.
- Research safety regulations, industry best practices, and emerging trends.
- Provide administrative support for project safety programs.
What you'll need#
- You are an active junior or senior college student.
- You are working toward a bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field.
- You can work up to 40 hours per week.
- You have a valid driver's license.
- You possess strong oral and written communication skills.
- You have the ability to think analytically and present ideas professionally.
- You work well in project teams.
- You are legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States. We do not provide visa sponsorship.

- This position is located in Las Colinas, Texas.
- This is an on-site, full-time role.
- Work is based on a rolling term schedule.
- This is a paid internship.
