About the role#
This internship is designed for college students interested in a field-oriented career, specifically those aiming for future Superintendent roles. You will work on-site in a construction environment, learning from Superintendents, Blasting Supervisors, and Drill Operators. This is a full-time, paid summer position for 2027. Please note that the role may require out-of-town travel and overtime.
What you'll do#
Your primary focus is to support construction operations while learning essential safety protocols. You will:
- Follow all company safety procedures and participate in daily, periodic, and monthly safety and job meetings.
- Perform construction laboring tasks, including pumping blast holes dry, loading and unloading explosives, and carrying stemming stone.
- Keep the job site clean and organized.
- Submit accurate, signed time cards to your supervisor weekly.
- Work under direction and occasionally perform tasks unsupervised.
- Maintain physical agility to work on uneven or loose surfaces.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a college program, preferably in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
- A hands-on, field-oriented approach and a safety-minded attitude.
- A valid driver license with a good driving record and your own transportation.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and an ATF criminal background check.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally, with frequent stooping and bending.
- Prior construction laborer experience is helpful but not required.
