About the role#
This internship is for college students interested in field-oriented construction work. It is designed for those who want to build a career path toward future Superintendent roles. You will work under the direction of Superintendents, Blasting Supervisors, and Drill Operators. The position requires working in various weather conditions and may involve out-of-town travel and overtime.
What you'll do#
- Follow all company safety procedures and policies.
- Participate in daily safety meetings, plus monthly foreman and periodic job meetings.
- Perform construction labor tasks, including pumping blast holes dry and carrying buckets of stemming stone.
- Load and unload explosives from trucks.
- Keep the job site clean and organized.
- Submit accurate, signed time cards to your supervisor every week.
- Work unsupervised on occasion.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college program, preferably in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
- A valid driver license with a good driving record and your own transportation.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- Ability to pass an ATF criminal background check.
- Physical agility and the ability to work on uneven, loose surfaces outdoors.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally, along with frequent stooping and bending.
- Previous experience as a construction laborer is helpful but not required.
