About the role#
The construction intern program provides students with first-hand exposure to industry operations. You will work under direct supervision to assist personnel in planning and building projects. The role focuses on optimizing resource use and minimizing costs while supplementing your classroom education with practical experience.
What you'll do#
- Support the company safety culture and follow all environmental and quality policies.
- Maintain compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
- Assist project teams with bid processes, contract development, and planning meetings.
- Monitor project safety, costs, and schedules.
- Coordinate material purchases, deliveries, and forecasting.
- Participate in customer relationship activities.
- Operate heavy equipment and perform manual or skilled labor tasks as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program for Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent field.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving history.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds and work on uneven terrain.
- Previous construction or internship experience is preferred, as is knowledge of take-off or bidding software.
- Willingness to travel, which may include overnight stays.
