About the role#
This internship provides hands-on exposure to construction operations. You will work with project teams to support site development and highway construction projects. The program includes mentorship, networking, and the chance to apply classroom concepts to real business operations.
What you'll do#
- Support the project team by monitoring safety, costs, and project schedules.
- Assist with bid processes, contract development, and planning meetings.
- Coordinate material purchases, deliveries, and forecasting.
- Help maintain high standards for quality, efficiency, and environmental performance.
- Follow all MSHA, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
- Participate in customer relationship management activities.
- Operate heavy equipment and perform manual or skilled labor tasks as needed.
- Uphold the company safety culture and ethical conduct policies.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program for Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A valid driver license and a clean driving history.
- Basic computer skills in MS Word and Excel.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk on uneven terrain, and work on your feet for long periods.
- Willingness to travel, which may include overnight stays.
- Previous construction or internship experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with software for take-offs and bidding is a plus.
